President’s Welcome

Welcome to the 2009 Carbondale Wild West Rodeo Series!!  We are looking forward to another great rodeo season.  For the most part, very little has changed this year.  We have added one event, Breakaway Roping, for some of our younger cowboys and cowgirls.  The rest of our events are back by popular demand!  I hope you like our new website.  We sure do!  We went through a significant re-design to provide a quality resource for our community and our participants and spectators.  A special thank you to CWWRA committee volunteer, Kathy Small for spearheading this website redesign.  This year we are printing up and selling rodeo hats and t-shirts.  The profits from these sales will be donated to local non-profit organizations.

I would like to thank all of the volunteers that are essential in making the rodeo a success.  Without these dedicated and hard-working volunteers, the rodeo would not happen.  We are always looking for more volunteers!  If interested, please contact Melanie Cardiff at 379-0809.

I would also like to thank the participants who come out week after week, rain or shine, to compete in Carbondale.  We draw competitors from all over the western slope.  We especially appreciate the young cowboys and cowgirls (and their parents who support them) that compete because the Board feels very strongly about passing on our western heritage to the next generation.

What would a rodeo be without our loyal spectators???  Thank you!!  Our attendance has increased every year and we are thankful to our valley for supporting this event.  Given our significantly increased attendance and our limited parking, we ask that you consider carpooling or riding your bike.  We are planning on adding overflow parking in the old Mid Continent Mine property.

Last but not least, I would like to thank the Board members and committee members for all of their time and effort in planning and providing the necessary services for our rodeo.  Countless hours are spent behind the scenes.  Without their passion and dedication, the rodeo would not be possible.

Due to economic conditions, the sponsorships for this season have been down.  Anyone interested in supporting the rodeo is urged to give me a call.

Thank you for your support and we look forward to a wonderful ’09 season!!

Sincerely,

Dave Weimer, President
