2009 Queen Chantri Knotts
Chantri Knotts, 16 years old, is a straight A Honor student at Basalt High School, entering her junior year. She has been chosen Town of Basalt Student Citizen of the Year and nominated for the Congressional Student Leadership Award four years in a row. Chantri is captain of her school volleyball team and actively competes in the National Little Britches Rodeo Association in barrel racing, pole bending, trail class and goat tying. Her family manages the Peace Ranch at Taylor Creek, in the Frying Pan River Valley. In 2007, Chantri was the CWWRA's first Queen Attendant. She is passionate about her role as CWWRA queen because she feels it is an opportunity to support the rodeo and educate people about what rodeo is and why it is an important part of our national heritage. Chantri plans to attend CSU when she graduates and become an equine surgeon.
